Our Uncolored Slices Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) is a great meat substitute that you can use in a variety of dishes that calls for chicken. Simmer in your favorite vegetarian broth or tomato mixture for enhanced flavor. TVP has a variety of great recipe uses including meatless entrees, chow mein, chicken noodle soup, and gumbo. Similar to tofu, TVP will absorb all the spices & flavors you are cooking with. Once cooked and hydrated, TVP increases up to 3x in size, which can bring ingredient costs down. For example, if a recipe calls for 1lb of meat, you may use about 1/3-lb of TVP. Its 2-year dry storage shelf life makes it last longer than its meat counterparts. One ounce of TVP is equivalent to an ounce of its meat counterpart.

Chicken-Like Slices TVP Directions: Add 1 ounce of Vegetarian Slices to equal parts water, chicken, vegetable or beef broth and simmer until fork tender for 25-30 minutes. Refrigerate after rehydrating if not using right away. Note: If making a meat sauce, you can add the dry TVP right into the sauce and let it rehydrate as it simmers.
