How is Soy Flour made?

Soy Flour is made by taking roasted soybeans and grinding them into a fine powder. Nutritional Designs' Soy Flour is de-fatted, which means that the natural oils found in soybeans have been removed during the processing.

Buying and Storing Soy Flour

Soy Flour is a whole-grain flour. So be sure to keep fresh; soy flour should be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. Our de-fatted Soy Flour has a 12-month shelf life. De-fatted Soy Flour:
  • An excellent source of protein, iron, Vitamin-B & calcium.
  • Is high in dietary fiber.
  • Contains health promoting isoflavones, which has been shown to help prevent chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis.
  • Added to your diet is a great way to put heart health first. The FDA has stated that including 25 grams of soy protein in your diet on a daily basis helps protect against heart disease.

Tips for Using Soy Flour

  • In a recipe calling for all-purpose flour, replace up to 30% with soy flour.
  • Reduce baking time or lower oven temperature slightly, since baked products containing soy flour may brown quicker than those without.
  • Stir or sift Soy Flour before measuring, it can become packed in its container.
  • Soy Flour can be used in place of flour or cornstarch to thicken gravies and sauces.
  • Using soy flour in frying batters or doughs can reduce the amount of fat absorbed by that food - making it healthier to eat.
  • Soy Flour as an egg replacement in baked goods, 1 egg = 1 tablespoon of Soy Flour + 1 tablespoon of water.
  • To increase the nutty flavor; lightly "toast" Soy Flour. To do this, cook soy flour (breifly) in a dry skillet over moderate heat and stir.
